THE foot-and-mouth crisis meant that last Sunday's West of Yore meeting was postponed and the current suspension of point to pointing means there will be no meetings this weekend.

There was a strong and successful Yorkshire entry at the Brocklesby point to point last Saturday, one of only two meetings which went ahead nationally.

Gill Walford's Farlington yard took the honours with a treble. The first leg went to the very useful looking Maitre De Musique, who came home in the confined under owner Martin Tate.

Yorkshire-qualified horses filled the minor placings, with Primitive Man, ridden by Simon Walker, second and the Ibbotson's Misti Hunter third.

The second leg came in the open when River Swilley, ridden by Mark Walford, got the better of the favourite Copper Thistle. The Annabelle Armitage-trained Sounds Strong finished third under Ranald Morgan.

The Walford hat-trick was completed when the five-year-old debutante Jolly Giant took the first division of the maiden. David Dickson's horse was ridden by Guy Brewer.

William Bethell's Captain Oates was backed down from 33-1 to 8-1 and the gamble looked like being landed until a mistake at the final fence meant he had to settle for second, Fiona Needham riding.

In addition to the three winners, the Walford stable picked up a second with the Robert Walford-ridden Engaged in the second division of the maiden.

Other Yorkshire placed horses were Tricky Trevor, ridden by Holy Delahooke in the restricted, Marius, second in the ladies open under Vicky Russell and Indie Rock, ridden by Fiona Needham, third.
