TWELVE hours of show jumping were enjoyed at Holmside Park, Edmondsley recently over excellent courses designed by Chris Jopling, writes Malcolm Bewsher.
The 48-starter Scope Festival one-metre open qualifier was won by Amanda Cowan from Elwick on Dovecote Balivar ahead of E Armstrong's Lord Bertram and Robert Shields riding Just Flint.
Amanda was runner-up in the Scope 1.15m qualifier with Dovecote Jilly, behind her nearest rival Angie Mills on prolific winner Gibside Sarleen. Amanda was also runner-up with Jilly in the 1.25m Select open qualifier, which was won by Donna Mewse riding DJA's Soft Touch.
Katherine Leak, with the consistent Lady Boss, took the Horse and Hound Foxhunter ahead of Angela Lowrie riding Captain Nemo Fox.
Victoria Baker took the Hadrian Equine Discovery on Cheef to Keep, while Karen Baker won the British Novice riding Just Mileu and Fiona Kerry on her prolific winner Spring Emerald took the Newcomers.
l Local combinations will be bound for this year's Royal International at Hickstead in July.
The in-form Paul Barker, from Northallerton, will be riding Sunboy and Croft Summer Wine in the Osborne Grade C finals. He was in tremendous form at Arena UK, with Blue Chip Kildalton Lad clinching the £1,000 A&B Grand Prix and was third the following weekend at Osbaldeston.
Barker also took the £250 1.35m open there with Kildalton Lad and was runner-up in the 1.30m open riding Blue Chip Quinton. He also took the 1.20m open with Waterford Lad, besides three Foxhunter classes with Sunboy, Croft Summer Wine and Neliane.
Jackson Reed-Stephenson, from Boroughbridge, will be aiming to retain his Hunter Wilson title after winning at the Royal International last year with Baileys Laurens. This year he will ride Baileys Tarigo and Flash Harry.
Jackson also qualified Baileys Laurens and Just Jerry for the Blue Chip finals after qualifying at Osbaldeston.
Angela Hartas from Stockton will make here debut at the Royal International in the Hunter Wilson finals after qualifying at Blackdyke and Stephanie Robinson from Redcar has qualified at the Arena UK Premier Show for the Winter JC Championship.
Stephanie, 14, won the qualifier from 57 starters riding the six-year-old Little Irish Lad and was fourth in the Krailburg Junior Discovery Championship last year.
Ten-year-old Joe Harland, from Whitby, was second in the Winter 128cm qualifier. He will be riding Ultimate Challenge, which was second last year with elder brother David, has won many championships in Scotland and also won three trophies at the BSJA Area 12 points presentations.
