TWO families in Guisborough have still not returned to their homes, four months after they were flooded.
At a meeting of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council last week, Coun Valerie Halton said they were the forgotten victims of the flooding that devastated many areas in November.
Coun Halton said it was right that the council's efforts were concentrated in Skinningrove where the whole village suffered, but many homes in Guisborough had also been flooded.
Two families, who wish to remain anonymous, have been staying with friends and relatives while their carpets are replaced, walls are replastered and heaters try to dry out the rooms.
Coun Halton said many homes in Guisborough were flooded - 11 in one street alone - and some businesses were interrupted by water damage.
Coun Dave McLuckie, lead member for community safety, said there were more than 900 homes throughout the borough affected.
He sympathised with the people who are not yet back in their homes and said: "We are looking to see how we can prevent further flooding. Redcar and Cleveland Council is doing all it can."
He was contacting council officers about the two Guisborough families.
