Redcar WMC A guaranteed themselves the Division One Championship when beating Redcar Cons. 5-1. During the match Gary Beckett of the WMC compiled an outstanding 52 break. With only four games remaining the gap between themselves and Carlin How is 24 points meaning they are now League champions. Carlin How A continued their good run of form when they beat New Marske away from home. Gary Forrest of New Marske started the proceedings by sharing the spoils with Andrew Shelley; the frames scores ended 29-72 and 70-40. Mark Earl then took charge for the visitors when in the next two games he beat Ron Greenwood with scores of 68-19 and 62-54. In the last match, Richard Sivills and Brian Magor won one frame each with scores of 38-56 and 66-24. Carlin How were victorious on the night, winning 4-2. Third placed, Marske WMC failed to keep up the pressure on Carlin How after being beaten 4-2 by Redcar Lakes A. However, Andrew Mudd of Marske did compile a 74 break which is the highest break in the division this season. Redcar WMC B were beaten 5-1 at home by Lakes B during which Keith Thompson of the Lakes compiled a 41 break. Lune Street and Guisborough Cons. shared the spoils with a 3-3 draw. Grinkle Park chalked up yet another victory on their travels, beating Ennis Square 4-2 which lifted them out of a relegation spot by a point. With only one point dividing second, third and fourth from bottom teams the battle for survival looks to continue right until the last match of the season.
In the second division the result of the week was between Marske WMC and New Marske Institute. Gordon Matthews kicked off the tie in good style for the visitors when beating young Gary Bolton 42-32 and 74-30. Geoff Unthank could do nothing to stop the rot when he was beaten in both his games by Keith Corner. The frame scores ended 81-11 and 54-30. Ian Walton, the anchor man for the home team, did battle hard but to no avail as Ken Heywood also won both games with scores of 53-41 and 68-48. New Marske were 6-0 winners. Carlin How also won by the same scoreline when Redcar Cons. B failed to turn up for their match. Leaders Saltburn Cons. A continued to dominate the division when they beat Guisborough Cons. on their travels 5-1. Saltburn Cons. B versus Redcar Unionists B and Redcar Unionists A against Guisborough TA were all shared 3-3.
