Experts who help people give up smoking, known as smoking cessation advisors, will be teaming up with health promotion specialists to tour the Sedgefield area in the week beginning March 12, which includes No Smoking Day, on March 14.

The Health Express will be at Sedgefield Borough Council's offices in Green Lane, Spennymoor, on March 12, Trimdon 2000 on March 13, Newton Aycliffe town centre on March 14 and Sedgefield Community College on March 16.

A fire engine and crew from Newton Aycliffe will attend the Ferryhill event on March 15, to talk about smoking safety and cessation services. Wear Valley District Council is offering a seven- week course to help people give up.

The course will take place at the Woodhouse Close Leisure Complex, Bishop Auckland, starting on Monday, March 26. The weekly sessions run from 2pm to 3pm, and the cost is free.
