YOUNGSTERS from a Washington gymnastics club are celebrating after medals.
Girls from the AllStars club, which is based in the town's leisure centre found success in a competition at Whitley Bay for youngsters under nine, 11 and 13.
Amy Coxon and Holly Holland did particularly well in the under-nines section competition. Amy won a gold medal for vaulting and a silver for the floor exercise.
She finished in first place and her score of 17.50 enabled her to progress to intermediate competitions. Holly won a bronze medal for her floor exercise and came third overall.
Stephanie Mason just missed out on a bronze medal and there were good perform-ances from Samantha Heads, Stephanie Heads and Mich-aela Charlton in the under-11s category, and Paula Kendal in the under-13s.
Heidi Morgan and Holly Holland have won places in the County Durham gymnastics squad.
Coach Christina Holland praised the athletes for per-forming to the best of their ability, despite having only one training session before the event.
