A SOFTWARE supplier is celebrating after securing a £170,000 contract with a Cyprus distribution company.
JBA Automated Logistics (JAL) a specialist division of JBA, of Durham City, has been appointed by CA Papaellina & Co to install a sophisticated warehouse management system for their 5,000sqm warehouse in the capital, Nicosia.
JAL project manager Eric Carter, who often visits the warehouse in Cyprus, said: "CA Papaellina have made my job easy. They have embraced the new technology, and any language difficulties have been minimal due to the cosmopolitan nature of the Cypriot people."
The system uses radio frequency technology via hand-held and forklift-mounted terminals. It provides an interactive solution that controls the cycle from goods arriving at the warehouse until dispatch. It is expected the new system will lead to a reduction in CA Papeallina's operating costs and a payback period of approximately 18 months.
This should significantly improve the company's impressive £14m turnover by providing increased distribution capacity.
JAL's product portfolio is designed to reduce the order to dispatch cycle, while still maintaining stock accuracy and product traceability.
Its portfolio of clients includes Exel logistics, Ring Group, One2One, Rexam Plastic Packaging, Dyson Appliances, Clarion, Fuji Xerox, and Hygrade Foods.
