It is believed the unnamed woman, in her mid-30s, left the Bondgate area of the town in a taxi between 11pm and midnight on Saturday.
She got out of the taxi in the Newton Lane or Jedburgh Drive area, and it is thought she was helped to her home by neighbours or passers-by.
