TWO enterprising boys from Redcar are organising a spring fair to raise money for a charity established in memory of a sister.

Last year, Michael Philo and Tom Neal, both aged 11, sat through all 18 James Bond videos in a Bond Aid marathon and raised more than £600 for the Katie Trust.

The charity was set up after Tom's sister, Katie, died of cancer when she was six-years-old.

Now the boys are preparing to hold a Funtastic Fair at St Peter's Church, in Redcar, on Saturday, March 24, from 10am until 2pm.

Lunches and refreshments will be available and Michael's dad Phil, curator at Kirkleatham Old Hall Museum in Redcar, will be running a Name That Artefact stall featuring unusual exhibits from the museum. He will also be signing copies of his book Redcar: A Pictorial History.

Tom, who is also patron of the Katie Trust, said: "We were delighted with the success of Bond Aid last year and we decided we wanted to do something every year."

Michael said: "Instead of doing another sponsored event, we wanted to actually organise our own event."

Tom's dad Martin, who is chairman of the Katie Trust, said: "We are delighted that the boys are so keen to stay involved. They've been very busy writing letters, organising the stalls and generally getting things sorted out.

"We're very proud of them and hope the fair is the success it deserves to be.
