FORMER council offices are to be transformed into a doctors' surgery it has been confirmed.
Shildon Town Council has agreed a price for the sale of its old offices in Burke Street.
Town Clerk Tom Toward said: "We have had an offer which we have accepted and the matter is now with solicitors.
Mr Toward said the Jubilee Medical Group would take over the premises on April 1.
This will mean that Shildon and Darlington Training, which has part of its facilities at Burke Street is also on the move.
Mr Toward said: "S and D Training are in the process of buying the old Jubilee Workingmen's Club, next to the Jubilee Centre."
The move will pave the way for the council to alter its offices to provide IT facilities for its members. Mr Toward said there are plans for a public seating area and a library and IT room so that its members can access up to date information.
