HAVE you ever wondered what DJs do - apart from playing loud music and wearing even louder shirts?
Some of the best DJing techniques and tricks of the trade, used by the club world's finest such as Pete Tong, Fat Boy Slim and Grandmaster Flash, will be revealed at a workshop at Newcastle University today.
New music lecturer Matthew Sansom, who is also a DJ, will take to the turntables and demonstrate skills such as beat matching and scratching.
Dr Sansom, whose DJ alter-ego is Cartel, will be using new equipment bought as part of the music department's recent £500,000 investment.
Anyone interested in watching a master DJ at work should go to the university's music department for 2.30pm
