RANK outsider Ourdogscoobydoo, a 20-1 shot, was the shock winner of Sunderland's £1,000 open competition.
The East Boldon regulars gave Graham Calvert's dog little chance, especially when one of the finalists was withdrawn, making it a five-dog race, with Jan Little's Bangor Don a well-backed evens favourite.
Bangor Don had beaten Ourdogscoobydoo by an emphatic 7 lengths in a rapid 27.60 secs winning his heat and a repeat performance was fully expected.
In the final Ourdogscoobydoo was a long way last out of the traps but avoided terrible crowding at the first bend, spotted a gap and came out of the second bend in the lead and never looked like being caught, winning by 3 lengths.
The well-supported Bangor Don suffered the brunt of the trouble and finished last, more than eight lengths behind the winner in one of the biggest open race upsets at the track for years.
