A DRIVER escaped injury in a crash that left his Land Rover only yards from a railway line.
Firefighters were called to an accident at Kirkleatham Lane where a Land Rover had slipped down an embankment.
The driver had turned out of Kirkleatham Street on to Kirkleatham Lane before skidding on black ice.
The Land Rover rolled down the embankment and landed on its side just 25 yards from the track. The man escaped from the vehicle unharmed.
The line connects Redcar, Marske and Saltburn with Middlesbrough and Darlington.
Sub officer Brian Upton, from Redcar fire station, said: "The man was very lucky to escape unharmed - but he was quite shaken up."
