Darlington chairman George Reynolds today challenged former Quakers boss David Hodgson to a 'head to head' discussion after an early morning appearance on a local radio station.
Speaking to Century's breakfast show host 'Goffy', Reynolds once again lifted the lid on the clubs accounts, and claimed that they should have been promoted last season with the money which was spent by Hodgson, who parted company with the Third Division club just before the start of the season.
Reynolds remained adamant that the club were in a better position this season, despite league positions suggesting otherwise and accused Hodgson of "grossly overpaying" the players.
After revealing the clubs accounts, Goffy asked Reynolds: "So did Hodgson do a bad job then?" to which Reynolds replied "Well he hasn't done a good job with the money he's spent."
After guiding the Quakers to Wembley in the play-offs last season, Reynolds claimed that Hodgson should have done better with the funds which were made available to him.
As a build-up towards Saturday's derby between Darlington and Hartlepool, Goffy had invited Reynolds, director of football Luke Raine, Hartlepool boss Chris Turner and assistant manager Colin West to the studio to talk about tomorrow's big game.
But moments after Reynolds' comments the station spoke to Hodgson about speaking on air and he agreed.
"I don't agree with him when he says I've done a bad job but that's all about opinions, it's whether people believe you or not at the end of the day," said Hodgson.
He added: "It was an amazing experience to work with George but the unfortunate thing was football was no longer the issue towards the end of my days with Darlington.
"I've heard it all now for a year and a half and I don't think I true picture has been painted in relation to the football club."
Goffy then asked Hodgson if he would be willing to take part in a 'head to head' discussion with the Quakers supremo at a later date.
"I'll come in and have my say first and if you think the show needs a head to head then fine - I don't want to turn Darlington Football Club into a circus," said Hodgson.
"I'm up for a head to head," added Reynolds.
