A support group has been set up for those who suffer from fragile bone disease.
The first meeting of the National Osteoporosis Society support group (NOS) will be held in the Golden Lion Hotel, on Northallerton's High Street, on Wednesday, at 7.30pm, for people from the Hambleton and Richmondshire areas.
A specialist nurse from the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, Sister Anne Sutcliffe, will be attending, giving an introduction to the causes, prevention and treatment of the disease.
NOS coordinator Fiona Palmer said: "We hope people in the area will take this opportunity to find out more about osteoporosis and what this new support group can offer people who have it, their families and carers in the local community."
More than 125 NOS support groups meet across the UK to share information, raise crucial funds and offer support to sufferers.
