A GROUP of young volunteers carried out a beach-clean at Saltburn at the weekend as part of a scheme encouraging volunteering in the new Millennium.
The youngsters are all part of the Middlesbrough Millennium Volunteers Project who are taking part in the Millennium Volunteers Award of Excellence scheme.
The group worked closely with the Saltburn 500 Club, which has adopted the beach along with local surfers.
The Millennium Volunteers initiative was launched by Prime Minister Tony Blair as a way of encouraging young people to take part in voluntary activities for the benefit of other people.
