A CONSTRUCTION company worker embroiled in two rows took his anger out on a pub door, kicking it so hard he knocked its frame away from the wall, a court heard yesterday.
Sarah Tyrer, prosecuting, told Harrogate magistrates how Paul Marlow had been arguing with his girlfriend, Shirelle Hines, in the Black Swan pub, in Devonshire Place, Harrogate, while having a row with his mother on his mobile phone.
Bar staff watched as Marlow, 19, lost his temper in the pool room and kicked the door before storming out of the pub followed by the landlord, who challenged him. He took him back to view the damage, but Marlow of Fewston Crescent, Harrogate, denied responsibility.
In court, he pleaded guilty to the damage charge, and was conditionally discharged for a year on payment of £69 costs, and £210 to repair the door.
Marlow's solicitor, Clive Farndon, said he had lost his job a few weeks before the pub incident on February 18. He had since found work, but everything had got on top of him and, out of frustration, he kicked the door, he said.
