THE Mayor of Hartlepool tested his fitness level yesterday when he unveiled a new health facility in the town.
Councillor Frank Rogers was at the Friarage Youth Centre, on the Headland, to sample the facility, which has been provided thanks to £20,000 of funding from the North Hartlepool Partnership. It will be run by Hartlepool Borough Council's sports development team.
Lorraine Harrison, a health and fitness coordinator with the council said: "I will be liaising with community groups, health professionals and local residents to develop a range of health and fitness activities for people of all ages and abilities.
"This wonderful new facility will increase opportunities for the local community."
Anyone wanting to use the facility should contact the council's sports development team on (01429) 284050
