A club is being launched this afternoon to help parents of twins swap stories and give each other a helping hand.
Margaret Nodding, 40, of Bishop Auckland, has two six-month-old sons, Daniel and Adam.
She is opening the club so that other mothers from the town and surrounding area, who are in the same position, can meet and enjoy a new social life.
She said: "I have been going to a twins club in Durham, but I know that there are a lot of twins in Bishop Auckland, Spennymoor and surrounding area.
"When you have twins it is very difficult to travel so there is a need for a club in Bishop.''
She has been joined by friend Beverley Laycock, 28, whose sons, Benjamin and Thomas, are 17 months. Mrs Nodding said: "It is not just a social activity for the children, but for the parents as well. We will be able to share advice and equipment and swap baby clothes.
"We also have books on parenting twins.''
The club runs from 1pm to 3pm, at Woodhouse Close community church hall, every second Monday in the month.
