A DURHAM community group is in danger of folding unless volunteers come forward.
Newton Hall Community Association was formed in 1968 and is used by about 100 people a week.
Among groups using the association's centre, which receives a grant from Durham County Council's community education service, are a play group, dance class, karate club, pensioners' group, luncheon club and mother and toddler group.
Association chairman Peter Hodgeson, treasurer Frank Cure and secretary Valerie Pope are standing down after giving many years of service - but no one has come forward to take their places.
They fear that if volunteers do not come forward, the association will have to be wound up.
Mr Cure said: "We've all felt we should hand over to new faces for the last two to three years but, unfortunately, no-one has been willing to come forward and take on the role.
"So we've all carried on so that the association can keep going, but it really is time now to call it a day and we are not seeking re-election.
"Unfortunately, if no-one does come forward at the annual meeting on Wednesday, March 28, to take on the roles then the association is in real danger of being wound up.''
Anyone wanting to put their names forward can do so at the annual meeting, which starts at 7.30pm, or call Mr Cure on 0191-386 7306 or Mrs Pope on 0191-386 2866
