POLICE are appealing for information after a man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident.
The 54-year-old man was walking in Church Walk, on the Headland, Hartlepool, when he was hit by a red car, believed to be a Honda Civic, at 10.45pm on Friday, March 9.
The driver, though to be in his late 20s or early 30s, initially stopped to help the man but then fled from the scene.
The car may have a damaged windscreen and front bumper caused by the collision.
The victim is still in Hartlepool General Hospital, with serious internal bleeding, a broken hip and head injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the accident, or knows the owner of a red Honda, is asked to call police on (01642) 326326
