RSPCA inspectors admit they are stumped by a snake dumped in a bin bag.
The 4ft brown and yellow ringed Californian king snake was found in a Darlington alley by two 11-year-old boys a month ago.
It had been attacked and left in a passage between Roslyn Street and Leafield Road. The snake was alive when the boys found it, but later died from its injuries.
The RSPCA said last night it had received no response to an appeal for information and urged anyone who knew anyting about the snake to ring 08705-555 999.
