A PRIMARY school has been praised by Government inspectors, who found good standards of teaching.
Staff at Willington Primary School are "hardworking, dedicated and committed" and have high expectations of pupils' progress and behaviour, according to a report by the team from the Office for Standards in Education.
The quality of teaching was good, with 35 per cent of lessons being very good or excellent. The leadership and management of headteacher Maggie Griffiths was found to be good, and her views on raising standards effective.
The report said: "Pupils are enthusiastic and obviously enjoy coming to school. They are polite, friendly and helpful.
"Inspectors' judgements wholeheartedly support parents' very positive views about the school."
But the team urged parents to get their children to school on time. They said the school needed to continue to improve standards in English, mathematics, science and information and communications technology and in music and religious education at Key Stage Two.
It also needed to increase the resources available for information and communication technology.
Governors' chairman Councillor Brian Myers said: "I am delighted with the report but I am not surprised.
"I feel that it is a fair reflection of the hard work and dedication of all the staff at the school and the caring and stimulating environment provided for all pupils.
