A MUSIC lover's £20,000 legacy, which is buying eight pianos for a North Yorkshire choir school, has presented them with a temporary problem.
Shortage of space means the eight new upright pianos cannot be accommodated at Ripon Cathedral Choir School, in Whitcliffe Lane, until the school finds a home for eight old ones.
With delivery men about to bring the pianos, the school has put out a plea for people wanting the old pianos to come forward for a quick sale.
Headteacher Canon Robert Western said that although the present pianos in the music department had a lot of use, they were maintained to a particularly high standard.
"They have been used rather than abused and have all been particularly well maintained over the years," said Canon Western, who expects the outgoing pianos to sell for between £200 and £300 each.
The £20,000-plus legacy was left to the school "for the purpose of enhancing the music department" by a well-wisher.
Some parents have already expressed an interest in buying the old pianos, but anyone else wishing to buy one should contact the school, on (01765) 602134.
