A LEISURE centre is preparing for the construction of an auditorium when Britain's leading theatre company makes a visit.
The sports hall at Hambleton Leisure Centre is hosting the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) when it comes to Northallerton, for seven sell-out performances of The Tempest, later this month.
Centre manager Richard Dowson said: "It is a massive undertaking. The RSC crew and leisure centre staff will construct the auditorium from 47 tonnes of equipment, which arrives in five articulated lorries, in just 24 hours."
Mr Dowson said the visit would disrupt the usual leisure centre events.
"Unfortunately, we cannot run our normal activities during this visit.
"But we are making arrangements which we hope will ease the inconvenience to our regular customers," he said.
The centre will close next Monday and reopen on Sunday, April 1, at 1pm.
