The cultures and traditions of the East and West met in the form of a fashion show at a school last night.
For the fourth year running, pupils at Hall Garth School, in Middlesbrough, put on a show featuring both Eastern and Western outfits.
They also performed folk and classical ethnic and British dances. The pupils, some of whom are from ethnic minority backgrounds, learnt intricate moves for the show from tutor Sinita Seghal, who described the classes as "fun and instructive".
To add spice to the evening, at the school's Hexagon Theatre, an Asian style buffet was served.
One of the organisers, history teacher Waheda Khot, said: "This is a very successful event, and has always proved very popular and enjoyable.
"It is a celebration of the merging of different cultures."
