THE much-loved art of creating paper aeroplanes came under the spotlight in the first of a series of activities to mark national science week.
Final year students from Newcastle and Northumbria Universities dropped in to the Shipley Art Gallery in Gateshead to provide Get Crafty sessions for families.
The activities looked at the properties of paper, inspired by the gallery's exhibition Rush on Paper - Parodies in Paper, which runs until Sunday.
Students will invite visitors to the gallery to make their own paper picture frame using cardboard templates based on designs taken from frames in the gallery, from 10am until noon on Saturday.
There will also be painting conservation demonstrations from 1pm to 2pm and 3pm to 4pm, on the same day
