SCHOOLCHILDREN have gone to pieces over their latest art project.
A group of year ten pupils at Tollesby School, Middlesbrough, began in a small way creating mosaics to hang in the corridor outside their classroom.
But as their interest grew, so did the mosaics. They have just completed an 8ft-square mosaic for an outside wall.
Kerrie Marshall, of Middlesbrough Borough Council's arts development team, said: "Most people in the school have had a hand in the mosaic which features many aspects of school life.
"The mosaic is full of movement and colour and has a light set in it which really brings it to life. The children are rightfully proud of their work and have described it as fantastic and spectacular.
"We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Topp Tiles and Middlesbrough Tiles who gave us tiles and offered support throughout the project."
The school, which now has a mosaic club, is going to produce a mosaic sign for nearby Holmwood School.
