THERE was great hilarity as pupils and staff at South Kilvington school paid 50p to go to school in their pyjamas on Red Nose Day last Friday.
There was an array of colourful pyjamas, cosy dressing gowns and furry slippers in the playground as they arrived. The children paid 20p at break time for a Red Nose Day bun - Emily Wilkinson and Hannah Pollitt- pictured right - particularly enjoyed theirs.
One of the parents, Mrs Yvonne Jackson, painted red noses on the children's faces, because many had not been able to buy an official one as Thirsk seemed to have sold out.
The children are looking forward to a trip to Thirsk school for a special PE session using the varied equipment available.
The head teacher, Mrs Lisa Taylor, and all the staff thanked governors Mr Mike Fox and Mr Derrick Tyson for donating a new blue and white football strip, which the team will wear for the next match.
The PTA has organised an Easter bingo night, to be held on Thursday at Thornton le Street village hall from 6.30. The committee is also busy dusting off the ducks for the spring fair and duck race which will take place on Saturday, May 19.
