CHANGES are to be made to the way rubbish is collected in Redcar and east Cleveland.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council reckons it will save about £200,000 a year by making the changes to the collection rounds and will improve the efficiency of the service at the same time.
A total of 17,000 properties, mainly in east Cleveland, are being given a different collection day and about 3,000 homes will have a different collection method.
In order to increase efficiency, the council will collect bins from back doors and alleys and expect householders to return them, although all homes on the council's assistance list will continue to receive help
