THEY usually paint the great and the good - princes, presidents and prime ministers.
But now the country's leading artists have turned their attention to the ordinary man and woman in the street.
The result, 50 portraits of everyday folk, is being exhibited at the DLI in Durham City, formerly the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery.
The exhibition is being staged by the Royal Society of Portrait Painters from today until Sunday, April 29.
Subjects include a scaffolder, a stripper, gynaecologist, teacher, farmer, potter and social worker.
