YOUNGSTERS got to grips with the mysteries of science and technology at a fair. New Brancepeth Primary School held the event, the first one of its kind at the school, to mark National Science Week, which is designed to promote interest in scientific issues, and promote understanding of the subject. The fair featured stalls set out in the school with different projects and challenges. These included building a burglar alarm, a construction project using Lego, and computer activities. There were also visits to the school by local firefighters and students from Durham University. Danielle Nixon, eight, and fellow pupil Daniel Hindmoor are pictured taking a close look at a heart.Picture: brian clough
