A CHARITY shop has celebrated its first birthday with the help of Spike the Hedgehog.
The Butterwick Children's Hospice Shop, in York Road, Hartlepool, passed the milestone last week.
On Saturday, to help staff celebrate, Spike, the hospice's mascot, presented the first 100 youngsters who called at the shop with a cuddly toy.
Shop manager Dot Turnedge said: "The youngsters love Spike. He is always a big hit, and made the day a real success."
