A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after being involved in a car crash early yesterday.
A Ford Mondeo carrying five people collided with a crash barrier on the roundabout connecting the A19 and A1231 in Sunderland, at 3.40am, before rolling down a grass embankment.
One 20-year-old female back seat passenger was detained at Sunderland Royal Hospital with serious leg and arm injuries.
The 28-year-old male driver, also from Washington suffered whiplash injuries. A 23-year-old woman from Chester-le-Street suffered minor injuries, and two 25-year-old men, from Washington, also had minor injuries.
