A RICHMOND resident's long-running campaign for peace and quiet has finally paid off.
Although the individual was never identified, the district authority's environment chiefs were told at a meeting that one person had been bombarding the department with complaints about disturbance from the Nuns Close car park for more than two years.
Truck and bus drivers stopping overnight and then revving their engines before leaving in the morning had been to blame.
Councillors were asked to consider if it would be wise to allow a crusade waged by a single person to prompt changes to overnight parking policies.
However, in the end, the environment committee decided the complainant had suffered enough and voted to ban trucks from the car park between 8pm and 8am and buses between 10pm and 8am
