MORE cash is being allocated for rural road safety schemes in the Harrogate district during the next financial year.
More than £70,000 has been allocated from the borough council's on-street parking income, an increase of £10,000 on the current year.
All the parish councils in the area are being invited to bid for funding for schemes which will contribute to road safety. The borough council set up the scheme to bring forward projects in its area which could not be funded by North Yorkshire County Council.
Projects vary from flashing lights on approaches to schools, rumble strips on approaches to villages, traffic calming measures and signs urging motorists to drive safely.
