HUNDREDS of villagers have signed a petition in support of a scheme to ban drivers from parking along a stretch of road.
Last year, Hartlepool Borough Council received a request from Greatham Parish Council for the introduction of double yellow lines along Front Street, Egerton Terrace and Station Road, all of which lead to the Sharwoods factory.
Consultation took place with residents, which showed more were against than in favour and, as a result, the council took no action.
However, since then a 262-name petition has been signed by residents and staff from the factory, who use the road regularly, and want to appeal against the decision not to take measures to ensure the safety of road users and pedestrians.
Councillors meet tomorrow to consider a prohibition of waiting order.
