UP-and-coming craft workers in Saltburn can receive extra help to get started thanks to a new support group.
A group of craft workers in the seaside town have clubbed together and formed Saltburn Crafts. They are starting to sell its work, including jewellery and ceramics, at the Tourist Information Centre in the town.
The craft workers received a grant from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, which helped to pay for shelving in the shop and will now be used to look at other ways that local craft workers can be supported.
Rose Bottomley, who helped to form the group, said: "There are many talented people in the Saltburn area making a variety of hand-made products. Our new group is a self-help organisation. Having the craft shop in the Tourist Information Centre is great for the craft workers and for people who want to buy hand-made items.
"We want to look creatively at all the ways we can help local craft workers especially those who are starting to look at ways of making a living by developing their skills and selling their work."
Craft workers who live in and around the Saltburn area can talk to Mrs Bottomley about joining the group on (01287) 209123.
