PEOPLE are being invited to help turn former farmland into an area for families.
The Countryside Agency and Sunderland City Council plan to create a floral meadow, restore hedgerows and improve a footpath at Copt Hill, Houghton-le-Spring.
It will form a feature of the Timberland Trail, which runs through former mining communities.
The council is looking to form the Friends of Copt Hill to involve people in the project.
A meeting to discuss the group will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at 6.30pm, in the Copt Hill Inn, Seaham Road.
