A LONG-SERVING school teacher was honoured by the Queen for her services yesterday.
Judith Kent, 61, who works at the Abbey Junior School, Darlington, was presented with an MBE by the Queen for her services to education. She has been teaching for 41 years.
Pupils at the school were asked to design an outfit for Mrs Kent to wear when she went to London to receive her honour. She will wear the winning outfit when she returns to the school today.
Mrs Kent, who will back teaching today, is the first teacher in Darlington to be awarded an MBE since the council became a unitary authority in 1997.
