UNREST over a new fence and seat at a Richmond play area has not been enough to convince district councillors to call off the project.
Residents living near the park at Pilmoor Hill, were claiming children hardly use the facilities.
Instead it has become a meeting place for teenagers, blamed for disturbances at night.
However, the district authority still agreed to spend almost £3,500 on the scheme, on Tuesday night, including it in a gradual upgrade of all play facilities for children in the Richmondshire district.
A new play park in Bainbridge, in Wensleydale, is also to benefit from the programme with a separate grant of £3,652 approved by leisure chiefs at the same meeting, on Tuesday.
It's hoped a commitment by the district council will help unlock other grants from the National Lottery and Yorkshire Forward.
