ATHLETES from a Guisborough college swept to success in the national schools biathlon championships in Rugby recently.
Jenn Cornes, Katy Livingston and Liz Adams joined forces to take the team gold medal for Prior Pursglove College by a comfortable margin. It was the best result the college has ever achieved in the event, which combines a 50m swim with an 800m run.
Jenn, an 18-year-old student from Pinchinthorpe, also won the individual gold medal with Katy in second place and Liz fourth.
The individual race produced an exciting spectacle, with Jenn just losing out to Liz in the swim before storming to victory by a handful of points in the run.
Both 17-year-old Katy, from Redcar, and 18-year-old Liz, of Marske, are currently training in Bath in a bid to win a place in the Great Britain modern pentathlon squad.
