THE British Show Jumping Association is reviewing its current recommendations regarding shows as foot-and-mouth disease continues to escalate.
The former BEF guidelines are now considered insufficient and new ones are being produced for approval by Maff and the Animal Health Trust.
All show organisers and the membership will be informed as soon as possible, with a view to affiliated show jumping re-establishing its programme in the near future.
All qualifications/double clear suspensions will be extended up to and including Friday, April 6.
"There is now a crisis looming within the equestrian industry and it is our wish to help its survival while this epidemic continues, but we must also ensure the guidelines meet Maff and AHT low risk assessment, plus NFU approval, because any recommendations change," said a spokesman.
