A PART-TIME professional singer, clocked by police exceeding 100 mph on a North Yorkshire motorway, was allowed to keep his driving licence yesterday.
In Harrogate Magistrates' court, Eric Hutchinson admitted driving his Saab at 108 mph on the A1M at Boroughbridge, on November 12.
Magistrates were told by defence solicitor Geoffrey Boothby that Hutchinson, 41, a married man with two children, would be hard hit by any driving ban.
The court heard a ban would result in him losing his driving job with British Bakeries and would stop him supplementing his earnings by concert engagements.
Court chairman Cecily Horton told Hutchinson, of Swirral Edge, Washington, Tyne and Wear, his concern and regret at his actions had helped him avoid a ban.
Six penalty points were added to his licence.
