A WOMAN who unwittingly left £100 stuffed down the side of a chair she sold, was touched when it was returned.
Margaret Weastell, from Chilton, in County Durham, sold her pink three-piece-suite to an elderly woman in Wolsingham earlier this week.
But after it had been to collected, Mrs Weastell learned from her husband that he had left the cash in the chair for safekeeping.
Mrs Weastell did not have an address or telephone number for the woman, so thought she had lost the money.
But she decided to place an advert in The Northern Echo, asking for the person who bought her suite to get in touch.
She thought it was a long shot, but was amazed when the woman telephoned her and returned the money.
Mrs Weastell said: "She hadn't found the money and, if she hadn't read the advert, she might never have found it.
"I thought it was a wonderfully kind thing to do and I'd also like to thank The Northern Echo because they were really helpful."
