QUAKERS enjoyed a satisfactory week in their battle against relegation, with four points from two games lifting them to 18th spot in the Nationwide Third Division.
A hard-fought home win over promotion-chasing Scunthorpe United was followed on Tuesday by a share of the spoils at fellow strugglers Exeter City.
Another plus for manager Gary Bennett was the form of French defender Alex Jeannin, who looked at home as part of a new-look five-man rearguard.
It was substitute Richard Hodgson who earned Darlington a 1-1 draw at St James' Park. The former Nottingham Forest winger picked up the ball on the left just a minute after coming on, burst between two defenders and scored with a low drive.
Quakers had fallen behind four minutes earlier, but went close to a winner when fellow sub Kirk Jackson just failed to connect with Hodgson's cross.
On Saturday, Quakers' goals in a 2-1 win over the Irons came from an unlikely source.
John Williams, who had netted only once since his arrival from York City in December, scored a brace of almost identical goals. Both times he lobbed the ball perfectly over the head of onrushing Scunthorpe keeper Tom Evans.
Although the visitors pulled a late goal back through Alex Calvo-Garcia, Quakers hung on for three vital points.
Tomorrow, Bennett's men are at home to Leyton Orient and on Tuesday they face Southend United at home.
