A swimming and water fitness challenge has raised more than £1,000 for two local charities.
John Moore, head coach of Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club, organised the event at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre on behalf of St Teresa's Hospice and the Pioneering Care Partnership's centre in Newton Aycliffe.
Mr Moore, who works at the centre, also runs an aqua- therapy course for St Teresa's Hospice. First prize in a raffle was claimed by Mary Halfpenny of Stockton, who won a double bed and headboard donated by Northgate Bedding Centre.
The winners of the second prize, a three-course meal and drinks at Sardis Restaurant, and third prize of a £25 holiday voucher donated by Hays Travel will be notified separately.
Hospice director Jane Bradshaw said: "The swimming and aqua-fit challenge has been an excellent way of raising funds for both St Teresa's Hospice and the PCP.
"Special thanks go to John Moore and the Aycliffe Leisure Centre for the wonderful job of organizing and running the event and our thanks go to everyone who took part."
