WORK starts next week on a multi-million pound transport initiative to benefit residents of western Gateshead.
The plan, spearheaded by Nexus, in partnership with other agencies, involves the provision of services operating through a staffed transport interchange facility, at Ryton.
The Western Links project will see the introduction of real-time information at key locations. The initiative is geared towards reaching people living in outlying communities and enhancing their options through public transport.
The partnership is between Nexus, Gateshead Borough Council, Go North East and Arriva. Part of a £1.25m Government investment, the project is expected to be completed by late summer/autumn.
