AN equestrian enthusiast is saddling up for a challenging trip to Asia - but needs to find £2,500 to fund the adventure.
Jo Raw, of Thornton-le-Street, near Northallerton, is hoping to take part in a 100-mile ride across Mongolia in June, in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind.
She would be among 30 riders on the 12-day trip, but is still unsure how she will cope with the traditional Mongolian ponies.
"They're quite small. They're a maximum of 13 hands," she said. "We'll have an English-speaking guide with us and some Mongolian horsemen. They're quite protective of their horses, and they'll be tending them."
Mrs Raw is looking to raise the £2,500 needed for the journey and will be collecting donations at Strikes garden centre, in Northallerton, on May 6, when she will wear the charity's furry dog suit.
Her 17-year-old daughter, Vicky, is also planning a head shave to help boost funds.
Anyone wanting to sponsor Mrs Raw can contact her in the evenings on (01845) 522881.
