Newcastle came back this afternoon from two goals down to earn a hard fought point at Valley Parade.
Andrew O'Brien could hardly believe what had hit him on his Magpies debut, finding his new employers two goals down after being hit with a two-goal blitz - the first from Ashley Ward and the second a hotly disputed penalty from former Darlington man Robbie Blake.
But in an end to end game Newcastle showed their fighting spirit, hitting back through Carl Cort after 25 minutes, who was on the end of a sweet Wayne Quinn cross.
The second half again provided chances at both ends before Clarence Acuna was on the end of a superb volleyed cross by fellow South American Nolberto Solano and the Chilean headed home.
